note me
Let's take a look at my 2013 resolutions and see what has become of it:
1. Get an awesome camera. Preferably canon powershot sx40 HS. Do something with it.I took my Canon Powershot sx120 IS when I went to Hong Kong. There I discovered it ate batteries, very fast. It wasn't very eco-friendly, so I was considering buying one before coming back. But because there might have been tax I had to pay and no warranty issues, I decided not to. When I got back, my dad said he still had a camera lying around. Guess what, it is a Canon Powershot SX260 HS. Booyeah! It's crazy. It has an accu too!
So hopefully I can shoot pretty stuff with it
2. Pick up a new hobby, maybe dancing. Rock n Roll is awesome. I took up swing dance lessons in Hong Kong. For the first time in my life. I learned in 6 weeks the basic steps of the Lindy Hop. It was crazy awesome.
3. don't suck at university.I passed my second year. Not with sparkly grades, but I managed to pass. Hopefully I will graduate this year.
During exchange though, I managed to get great grades. Even so, exchange courses were really easy and the professors weren't too strict. What really surprised me though that I got high grades for my Manderin course. I am lucky to already have a Cantonese background. I was able to pick it up very easily, and the pronunciation isn't too difficult for me either. I want to continue doing Chinese language courses, improving what I have.
4. change myself. grow. be a better person. cause i still suck at it.There is still a lot of room left of improvement. However, I have learned a lot about myself the last year through my ex and when I was on exchange.
- I am a difficult person to be with.
- Even though people experience the same things, they can still have different views on it.
- Don't be too open, not all people appreciate honesty. It's too weird.
5. cook great foods, preferably sweets.I did a little bit of baking the last year. I even made a no bake cake while on exchange. That's a pretty awesome achievement
7. be an exchange student at the hong kong university.I was and it has been a fantastic ride.
8. meet new people. don't get socially awkward and shyI met a lot of new people on exchange. Even though I haven't befriended a lot, I was able to get to know some really special people that will hopefully stay in my life. I can be a likable person. I can also be a happy person, it all just depends on where I am, and how I deal with it.
Be more pro active will be my next resolution. Work towards goals. Don't be passive anymore.
9. be happy and shiny for a changeThe 4 months of Hong Kong were the most shiniest and happiest times I have been since a very long time.
10. make enough money to afford all of the above.I worked so hard before I left for Hong Kong. Working 50 hours or even 70 hours per month while trying to combine my studies with my part-time catering job. It was hard, and it was depressing. I wasn't able to do much outside of school and work, so I mostly stayed in. There were some really nice moments with my friends and ex, but I lived a really restricted life because of my financial situation.
When I got to Hong Kong I was finally able not to have to work for four months, and had the freedom to spend it on whenever I wanted. I bought gifts for my friends, tried to get some for my family too and enjoyed the life. I was able to do stuff I have wanted to do for a long time.
So what will I be trying to do for this year?
1. Be more pro active. Steer the direction of my life actively.
2. Choose the right Master. Chinese studies? Work & Organizational Psychology? and where?
3. Improve myself more. How am I towards others, be more conscious of my actions.
4. Continuing learning Cantonese and Manderin.
5. Try to find a job that adds more to my working experience than a catering job.
6. Get my friggin Bachelor
7. Start a vegetable garden
8. cook more with vegetables, I'm eating way too much meat!
9. Trying to keep in touch with the people I care about
10. Meeting new people and still not be too awkward
